Founder's Story

Caren Wu, M.Ed., Special Education
In memory of her beloved son Jaden, Caren dedicated her life to transform grief into hope. Jaden bravely battled a rare disease for 27 months, requiring a respirator to support his heart and respiratory functions. Sadly, he passed away just after his second birthday. This heartbreaking loss opened Caren’s eyes to the true value of life, igniting her passion to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and their families, especially those with special educational needs.
Caren’s professional journey includes significant roles that shaped her philanthropic expertise. In 2012, she began as Head of Corporate Development of a NGO specialized in children with special needs. Afterwards, as Head of Grants for a prominent philanthropist in Hong Kong, she recognized critical gaps in philanthropy and honed her expertise in strategic funding, collaborating with professionals to support children and families in crisis.
Driven by her desire to honor Jaden, Caren pursued a Master’s degree in Special Education and founded Children of Light Foundation in 2018. The foundation connects caring contributors with impactful projects that support children and families facing challenges.
